We are pleased to confirm the program for the 2020 Bega Health Research Forum.
This Forum is a joint collaboration between the University of Wollongong, the NSW Health Education and Training Institute and Southern NSW Local Health District.
Keynote
Our Keynote Speaker for the SEHRN 2020 forum is Professor Mitchell Byrne, Associate Dean Education (IntoHealth) who will share with the forum the latest progress on the $44m Health Precinct project in the Illawarra and also discuss ways that local researchers and clinicians can engage.
Professor Byrne is the Director of the Clinical Training Programs at UOW and also a post graduate lecturer, specialising in both clinical and forensic psychology. His research has focused on treatment adherence, autism, trauma, child protection and offender assessment and treatment.
Professor Byrne is also responsible for the development of Teaching and Learning within the Primary and Community Care facility, at "intoHealth", and the surrounding Health and Wellbeing Precinct.
An Australian-first, the Health and Wellbeing Precinct centre will provide a one-stop shop model of care with the central focus being the needs of the patient and their family. The strong focus on teaching and research will see research translated into practice to improve patient experience and outcomes. It will operate on a social equity of access to healthcare, providing innovative clinical services and diagnostic facilities for both public and private patients.
