public class MyCanvas
extends java.awt.Canvas

Standard Canvas class - an instance will occupy a region of the GUI display window and will link to the underlying data model (in this case the Map defining the dungeon and its contents). Requests to paint the canvas are forwarded to the data object.
This MyCanvas class overrides the default java.awt.Component.update() behaviour so as to use double buffering; this reduces flicker in the display.
