Presentation of keynote addresses at national and international conferences

• ANZIAM 2005, 41st Applied Mathematics Conference, Napier, New Zealand, 30 January-3 February 2005. Improving the performance of bioreactors.

Prestigious international and national awards and prizes

• 2002. Awarded a `John A Brodie Deal: Certificate of Merit' for having one of the top six papers published in the 9th Asia Pacific Confederation of Chemical Engineers Congress in practical application of chemical engineering. There were over 900 papers provided to the congress. The award is given annually by the Chairman of College of Chemical Engineers, The Institution of Engineers of Australia. The title of the paper was ``A Semenov model of self-heating in compost piles''.
• 2004. Awarded the J.H. Michell Medal for being the most oustanding new researcher in the field of applied mathematics in Australia and New Zealand. Award given by the ANZIAM division of the Australian Mathematical Society.
