WUPA Membership

What is WUPA?

The Wollongong University Postgraduate Association (WUPA) is an organisation dedicated to offering support and advice to postgraduates at the University of Wollongong. Membership is open to anyone enrolled in a PhD, Masters, Graduate Diploma, Graduate Certificate or a discrete Honours year on any Australian campus of the University of Wollongong. (If you are an undergraduate, you should join WUSA instead.)

Join WUPA for free!

Important: If you want to use the free printing and 5c copying services at the Postgraduate Resource Centre, you also need to pay a membership fee at Student Central in Building 17. Learn more.

Premium Membership

To make the most of your postgraduate association, you need to be a financial member of WUPA. Annual membership is $61.00. (If you will only be enrolled for six months of the year, you only have to pay half the fee, i.e. $30.50.)

To join, follow these steps:

1. Go to StudentCentral. You can pay your membership fee by credit card, cheque or electronic funds transfer (e.g., debit card, savings card). Please note you cannot pay by cash.
2. Go to WUPA's offices in building 116 (see a map) to fill out a membership form. Please bring your receipt with you.
3. You will get a membership sticker on your Student Card.

Benefits of Membership

As a financial member of WUPA, you will enjoy access to:

• Free, confidential advice on academic grievances;
• Access to the Postgraduate Resource Centre, with 5c photocopying and free printing (bring your own paper);
• Information services, including free legal advice days and migration seminars;
• Free barbecues;
• Cost-price social events, including dinners and parties;
• Free postgraduate-oriented publications, such as Rhizome Magazine.

You will also be helping to support an organisation that protects your rights as a postgraduate, and works to improve the situation of all UOW postgraduates.

(Free members will still be able to use some of the above services, but will have limited access, and some services will not be free.)
