Verbal report given:

President attended meetings of the Cross-Campus Concessions Coalition, Special Consideration Working Party, University Education Committee and University Research Committee.

Met with Yvonne Kerr, Dean of Students, to be briefed on the role of the Campus Equity Education Consultative Committee (CEECC).

Attended lunchtime meeting of the Graduate House Residents' Association and Senior Residents; listened to suggestions re Postgraduate Resource Centre. One student suggested WUPA take action to help with costs of childcare (Kids Uni).

Suggestion by Council member that UOW could subsidise places, in similar fashion to its EdStart program. President to ask CEECC.

Annotated copies of 2005 Annual Financial Statement, and comparison of 2005 budget (actual spending versus budget) and 2006 budget (compared with 2005 actual spending) circulated. (Attachments 1 and 2.)

That the Council advertise the vacant position of Activities Officer through WUPAnews, with nominations to close by 4 August 2006.

That the Council approves a donation of $100.00 towards the InterFace Photography Competition as prize money for the Student Focus category.

Applications received:

Election of Vice-President (Coursework) by secret ballot of the Council. Mitch O'Dwyer abstained.

Mitch O'Dwyer appointed Vice-President (Coursework), Kerryn Hopkins appointed External Students' Officer, Barbara Mair appointed General Representative.

That the Council advertise the vacant position of General Representative through WUPAnews, with nominations to close by 4 August 2006.
