Welcome to WUPA

Hi! If you're a postgrad, then you need to know about WUPA, the Wollongong University Postgraduate Association. We're the peak representative body for postgraduate and Honours students enrolled at Wollongong. Our role is to advance and defend the interests and welfare of postgraduates at UOW.

We organise social events, provide information and services, publish a magazine and can offer confidential and independent advice and assistance with resolving academic grievances.

It costs nothing to join, and you can join online. If you would like to use the services and facilities of the Postgraduate Resource Centre there is a membership fee of $30.50 for six months.

Know Your Rights

Do you know what your rights are at university? Do you know how to make a complaint, if you have to? Do you know what the University expects of you?

You should learn the answers to these questions through the University's orientation programs. But if you want to review and refresh your understanding of your rights at the University of Wollongong, read our Uni Policy Fact Sheet (part of our Advocacy service).

Wall Calendars Available

The free 2008 Student Wall Planner is available from WUPA in Building 115 (see a map), and at various places on campus. Why not visit our stall during Orientation Week?

The planner covers February 08 to January 09, and has all important University and WUPA dates marked, as well as school holidays, public holidays, and daylight saving.

Fare Go For International Students

Did you know that the State Government refuses to grant travel concessions to international students? A court found this behaviour constituted discrimimination. Did you know that in response, the NSW Government changed the law to make the Travel Concessions Act exempt from anti-discrimination law?

International students are students first, international second. They deserve equal treatment. We are running a postcard campaign to change the law so it will be fair. Please fill out one of our postcards and drop it off at the WUPA Offices, Building 116 Northfields Avenue. (See a map). You don't have to be an international student — or even a student — to support our campaign. Any adult can fill out one of our postcards.
