Brief Introduction:
Julie is a descendent of the Wandandian Tribe of the Milton/Narawhallee Area and was born and raised in the Illawarra. She is a member of the Local Lands Council, Community Centre and Aboriginal Medical Service. She has a large community interest in the area of Aboriginal Health having being employed in this area for the past 12 years.
Professional Information:
She was previously employed by the Illawarra Area Health Service as the Area Manager for Aboriginal Health for a period of four years, covering the area from Helensburgh to Ulladulla. Prior to this she was the Deputy C.E.O/C.E.O of the Illawarra Aboriginal Medical Service for a period of seven and a half years. In both of these roles Julie supervised up to 22 staff.
Julie has acquired extensive knowledge in program planning and implementation, strategic planning and community development. Julie is an advocate for Aboriginal people acquiring knowledge and qualifications and sees this as the way to go forward for Aboriginal people in their quest for self determination.
She has also served as a Board Member for the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council and currently is a Board Member for the Illawarra Aboriginal Medical Service. She has also been a co- recipient of a “Baxter Award for Health Excellence”.
