Our Graduates for 2008

 

 

Vanessa

Indigenous graduate Vanessa Cavanagh was recently awarded the Illawarra Prize in Fourth Year Earth & Environmental Sciences - awarded for best overall performance in the fourth year of the Bachelor Honours program.

Representatives of Vanessa’s mother’s and father’s families were there for the ceremony. Vanessa graduated with a Bachelor of Science First Class Honours (94%) for her thesis, The NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act in the Bundjalung Aboriginal Nation.

Her prize was presented by Professor John Dodson, who is the Head of the Institute for Environmental Research at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Association, and currently Chair of the International Year of Planet Earth for Society (Climate Change Group) for UNESCO.

 
Luke Sml

Indigenous graduate Luke Hockey was presented an award for outstanding performance in the subject, LLB301 Evidence, for the 2007 academic year.

 Presenter: Mr Stuart Hill is the President of the Wollongong Regional Bar Association – he was representing the sponsor of the award, The New South Wales Bar Association.
