Goals

W.I.C goals are to:
  • Provide pathways for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and Indigenous students into mainstream academia, including academic research and key decision making positions within other UOW faculties and departments; within Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and Indigenous and non - Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and Indigenous organisations and agencies.
  • Develop collaborative and multidisciplinary research paradigms for cultural and other resource management with full participation of other UOW Faculties and Departments and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander & Indigenous organisations, agencies and communities in the Illawarra.
  • Incorporate Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and Indigenous knowledge systems as a respected and valued body of knowledge in the Australian Higher Education System.
  • Establish and further refine research methodologies appropriate to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and Indigenous students, scholars and communities.
  • Empower and inform Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and Indigenous students and scholars at UOW, throughout Australia and internationally.
  • Assist research activities and participation by Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and Indigenous peoples and the dissemination of research outcomes to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and Indigenous communities.
