Have you ever thought of going to University?
Are you of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent?
UOW may be able to set you on your path to achieving your goal via the Alternative Admissions Program (AAP).
The University recognises that not all individuals or groups of people in the community have equal access to a tertiary education. The UAI alone is not necessarily enough to determine whether a person has the aptitude and academic ability to excel at University. The University's Woolyungah Indigenous Centre (WIC) annually conducts a two day admission program where the successful participant can gain access to tertiary study. During the program, participants sit literacy, numeracy and learning comprehension skills assessments, followed by an interview with the relevant faculty. An advanced mathematics test is available for applicants wishing to enrol in degrees such as Accountancy, Economics, Engineering, Science and other degrees that require a strong knowledge of mathematics.
The Alternative Admissions Program is available to anyone of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander decent who is at least 18 years of age.
Participants wishing to study at the University's Education Centres (if subjects are available) in Bateman's Bay, Bega, Loftus, Moss Vale and Shoalhaven can access the AAP also.
