Student Travel Concessions

Discounts are available to full-time Australian students with a Travel Concession Pass on CityRail and local bus services. Simply have your pass ready to show the driver when boarding a bus or buying your ticket, and keep it with you when travelling.
How to Get a Travel Concession Pass
When you first enrol
On enrolment day, if you are enrolling full time, you will be issued with a concession icon printed directly on your UOW Student ID Card. The initial icon will remain valid for your first year.
When you re-enrol
Contact Student Central when you re-enrol each year to get your concession icon updated. Applications forms are in the Student Central office (green forms), but can also be found at the NSW Transport and Infrastructure website.
Once the form has been completed, received and checked for eligibility at UOW, you will be issued with a Concession sticker valid only for the period of your full time enrolment.
For example, a full time enrolment in Autumn session only will expire at the end of Autumn session and a new one will be required from Student Central if you re-enrol full time in Spring session.
The Concession sticker is placed on your Student ID card or separate concession card with numbers identifying the current year. When you are issued a separate concession card, this will need to be used in conjunction with your UOW Student ID card.
If you lose your UOW Student ID Card / Concession card
UOW Student ID cards can be replaced by contacting Student Central. There is a cost to replace your UOW ID card of around $10. See more at: Student Central – Our Services
Although Student Central can replace your ID card easily, the University can not issue duplicate concession passes for the same period. That is, if you lose your Concession endorsed card, UOW are not able to issue a new one until that Concession period has expired. Request for replacement Concession passes must be made directly to RailCorp. You will need to contact Student Central for the Replacement form to be verified with your period of full time enrolment and eligibility. The cost to replace your Concession pass with RailCorp, is around $25. The form can be downloaded from the NSW Transport and Infrastructure website
Eligibility:
Full time domestic students
Full time domestic students are eligible for a rail and bus concession sticker to be added to their student card. This allows travel at a concession rate on City Rail and local bus services.
Rural/Regional Students
Students under the age of 30 and deemed to fall under Rural or Regional areas may be entitled to an Omnibus Fare Concession. Students will need to collect a NSW TI Form 320 (Omnibus Concession Fare Certificate) from Student Central which should then be taken to the local bus provider. Students will need to provide evidence to the local bus provider that they are not receiving an income or remuneration, and the timetable of their contact hours at university. Please see the Transport NSW website for an Omnibus Concession Certificate application form.
Part time and International students
Unfortunately the NSW Government does not provide travel concessions to part-time or international students.
