Creative Arts Prizes
Prizes are awarded at the faculty’s annual awards night
- Australian Press Council Prize ($300)
This prize is open to students enrolled in JOUR113, JOUR214 or JOUR333. The prize will be awarded for the highest mark for a single piece of work submitted for an assessment task worth at least 30% of the total subject, provided that the student achieves a minimum Distinction (75%) mark. The prize consists of a cheque for $300 and certificate.
- The Alumni Bookshop Faculty Prize ($300.00)
This prize is open to students completing an Honours year or in the final year of a four year degree (or double degree). This prize is awarded to a student deemed to have the highest performance, as determined by the Dean.
- Brian Crowther Prize ($250)
This prize is open to students who are enrolled as a postgraduate student in the Faculty of Creative Arts majoring in Visual Arts or Graphic Design. The prize will be awarded for an outstanding visual art or design work created during the course of enrolment for a postgraduate degree and as determined by the judging panel. The prize consists of a cheque for $250 and certificate. A student may submit only once during candidature for the degree.
- The Diana Wood Conroy Prize ($250)
This prize is open to students who are enrolled in their final year of a Bachelor of Creative Arts, or in a double degree including the BCA majoring in Visual Arts, Graphic Design and Media Arts. The prize will be awarded to the best aggregate mark for third year core theory and studio subjects, provided that the student achieves a minimum of Distinction (75%) average across the year. The prize consists of a cheque for $250 and certificate.
- Fellowship of Australian Composers' Prize for Best Composition by a Postgraduate Composer ($300)
This prize is open to postgraduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Creative Arts. The prize will be awarded for the best composition, minimum five minutes, composed during the course of enrolment for the degree and within the context of the degree. The prize consists of a cheque for $250, one year’s membership of FAC (valued at $50) and a certificate.
- Fellowship of Australian Composers' Prize for Best Composition by an Undergraduate Composer ($300)
This prize is open to students enrolled in a Bachelor of Creative Arts, majoring in Sound - Composition and Music Production. The prize will be awarded for a single piece of work submitted for an assessment task worth at least 30% of the total subject in SCMP101, 102, 201, 202, 301 & 302, provided that the student achieves a mark equivalent to a Distinction (75%) or higher. The prize consists of a cheque for $250, one year’s membership of FAC (valued at $50) and a certificate.
- Ignition: NAVA Graduating Student Award (value in 2007 - $133)
This prize is open to undergraduate students enrolled in the Bachelor of Creative Arts or an associated double degree. The prize will be awarded to the student with the highest average mark in the subjects VISA303 and VISA304 in one year, provided the student achieves a minimum Distinction average (75%) mark across both subjects. The prize consists of one year's membership of NAVA including all benefits plus one copy of the book Money for Visual Artists, plus one copy of the Code of Practice for the Australian Visual Arts and Craft Sector (2nd Edition) and a certificate.
- Illawarra Mercury Journalism Prize ($250)
This prize is open to students enrolled in second or third year of the Bachelor of Journalism or associated double degrees. This prize will be awarded to the Bachelor of Journalism student with the highest aggregate mark in any two of the core subjects at 200 or 300 level, provided the student achieves a minimum Distinction (75%) average. The prize consists of a cheque for $250 and a certificate.
- The Liz Jeneid Prize ($500)
This prize is open to all students enrolled in their third year of a Bachelor of Creative Arts or an associated double degree. This prize is awarded to a student with the highest aggregate mark in studio subjects VISA303 and VISA304 in textiles, provided the student achieves a minimum Distinction (75%) in both subjects. In the case of a tie, the award shall be split. The prize consists of a cheque for $500 and a certificate.
- Merrigong Theatre Company Performance Prize ($250)
This prize is open to students who are enrolled in the performance stream of PERF203 or PERF303 in the same calendar year. The prize will be awarded to the student with the highest final mark for PERF203 or PERF303, provided the student achieves a minimum Distinction (75%) mark or above in the performance stream. The prize consists of a cheque for $250 and a certificate.
- Merrigong Theatre Company Production Prize ($250)
- The Nicholas Pounder Prize ($150)
This prize is open to students enrolled in CACW102 and CACW104 in the same session. The prize will be awarded to the student with the highest aggregate mark for all WRIT subjects at 100-level,provided the student achieves a minimum Distinction (75%) average. The prize consists of a selection of antiquarian books from Nicholas Pounder Antiquarian Bookseller to the value of $150 to be chosen by the winner.
