Forcing the Browser to Save a File
A web link usually points at a digital
file. If that link is on a normal web page
you can force the browser to save the file on your computer without first viewing
the file. (This won't work directly from a WebCT page;
you'll have to view the document first, then Save it, but if you're using Internet
Explorer on MS Windows, you can't save the file.)
If the link is on
a normal web page, you can click on the blue link with the right mouse button
(Windows) or click and hold on the link (Macintosh); a pop-up menu will
appear, and you can choose Save this link as... or Download link to
disk.
Show the computer
where to save the document, noting carefully which disk and folder it's going
to be put in.
At the same time, you also have the chance to give the file a name that is meaningful
to you.
