Dr Jakub Mazurkiewicz was honoured with a PhD in Chemistry at the Friday graduation ceremony. Jakub completed his PhD in the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute (IPRI) and conducted detailed studies into polymer charge/discharge processes in a new range of electrolytes, ionic liquids (organic salt liquid), at room temperature. The discovery of properties of the electrolytes, especially when combined with polymer electrodes, has laid the foundation for the development of flexible, wearable battery technologies for use in the area of electronic textiles. Dr Mazurkiewicz is pictured with his proud parents, Wanda and Henryk.
