Graduation: Wednesday 18 July 2007

Alexandra Martinak graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Sociology) at the morning ceremony on Wednesday 18 July. She was joined by her husband Mischa and her godmother Margaret White.

Former Education Reporter (now Health Reporter) at the Illawarra Mercury, Courtney Trenwith, graduated on Wednesday morning with a Master of International Relations (with Distinction). Her proud parents, Lyn and Jon, attended the ceremony.

Indigenous Employment Officer cadet at UOW's Employment Equity and Diversity Unit, Jade Kennedy, graduated on Wednesday afternoon with a Bachelor of Commerce. He was joined by his three young children (left to right) Ezekiel, Isiaiah and Alanieta.

Aboriginal student, Dr Ernie Blackmore, graduated with a PhD from the Faculty of Arts on Wednesday morning. His thesis presented an 'Urban' Indigenous 'Voice' to contemporary Australia through the medium of theatre.

Rachel Linde graduated with a Bachelor of Teaching (with Distinction) at the Wednesday morning ceremony and was joined by her mother Sabine and her boyfriend Grant Greentree. Rachel is the first in her family to graduate from university.

Septuagenarians Ruth Richmond and Elaine Dunn each graduated with a Master of Arts (research) at the Wednesday morning ceremony. They were supervised by Glen Mitchell from the School of History and Politics.

The afternoon Occasional Address was delivered by Global Head of People, Performance and Culture at KPMG, Mr Doug Jukes. He is pictured with UOW Deputy Chancellor, Sue Chapman.

Indian student, Dr Vinathe Sharma-Brymer, was awarded a PhD from the Faculty of Education. Her research involved a phenomenological exploration of ten Indian women's experiences of 'being an educated woman'.

Internationalisation Coordinator in the Faculty of Arts, June Aspley, graduated on Wednesday morning with a Master of Arts in Applied Ethics (with Distinction).

Wednesday morning's Occasional Address was delivered by esteemed children's author and Deputy Head of Abbotsleigh Junior School in Sydney, Mrs Jacqueline Harvey.

The Faculty of Education saw a record number of PhD degrees (for any one session) conferred at the morning graduation ceremony on Wednesday. A number of the doctoral graduates are pictured with their supervisors.
