Grant holds an AustSwim qualification, a Pool Lifeguard Certificate and bronze Medallion, a Senior First Aid Certificate, a Certificate IV in Fitness as well as a Level 1 Certificate in Sports Administration and Management. These extra qualifications allowed Grant to secure part-time work at the University’s Recreation and Aquatic Centre (URAC). Grant is the youngest of three boys who also graduated from UOW -- his brother, Paul, holds a Bachelor of Education (Physical and Health Education) and Aaron Hughes graduated with a Bachelor of Creative Arts/Bachelor of Laws. He is pictured with his mother (centre) Kathryn Hughes and his aunt, Jan James, who is Faculty Officer in the Faculty of Education.
