Services and Facilities for Families of AusAID students

English Conversation Groups

Family members are welcome at the free English Conversation Groups on campus.  The groups provide an opportunity for international students to practice their English in an informal setting. See the current timetable for English Conversation Groups.  There is more information about English Conversation Groups and Language Classes on the Student Support Adviser's website.

International Student Programs

International Student Programs contribute to the wellbeing of international students and their families.  Family members are welcome to participate in the majority of these programs, including English Conversation Groups, International Friendship Program, Sightseeing Trips and Welcome 2 Wollongong Festival.

Counselling Services

The University Counselling Service provides a free and confidential service to assist students who are experiencing difficulties, including family-related problems.  Both male and  female counsellors are available.  Family members of international students at UOW are also welcome to attend the University Counselling Service.

Student Support Advisers(SSAs)

Student Support Advisers (SSAs) are specialist staff based in each faculty who can help international students during their stay in Australia.  Student Support Advisers (SSAs) can assist in family emergencies and can refer international students to relevant services for families in the community. See the  Student Support Adviser's website for more information.
