Prime Minister's Pacific Australia Awards (PMPA)
The Prime Minister's Pacific Australia Awards (PMPA Awards) is a program funded by the Australian Federal Government that gives awardees the opportunity to undertake a practical work placement to gain experience and insight into the daily management of an Australian business organisation.
The Awards expand the academic experience gained by postgraduate awardees of the Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) and Australian Leadership Award Scholarships (ALAS) programs.
Award Benefits
Each Award is valued up to $25,000 and covers the following:
- 1-3 months work placement
- Related work placement fees
- Costs relating to visa extension
- Travel and re-location expenses
- Insurance cover
- On-going stipend for period of work placement ($1,200 per fortnight)
- Pacific Leadership Workshop (including travel and accommodation)
- Up to $2,000 for approved optional individualised leadership development (including conference attendance or other training fees, travel and accommodation during leadership activity)

2012 Eligibility
To be eligible for a PMPA Awards, candidates must be:
- a postgraduate Australian Development Scholarship (ADS) or Australian Leadership Award Scholarship (ALAS) student from one of the following countries: Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, East Timor, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Wallis & Futuna
- completing their ADS or ALAS studies in Semester 2 of 2012 or Semester 1 of 2013
- not in receipt of an Allison Sudrajat or Greg Urwin award
- not applying for an upgrade from a Masters to a PhD degree
