Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

As an international student, you are required to have student health cover for the duration of your study in Australia. The UOW AusAID Scholarship Officer will arrange your OSHC for you prior to your arrival in Australia.

UOW has chosen Australian Health Management (AHM) as its OSHC provider. 

If you do not wish to go through the University's preferred provider you can elect not to pay the OSHC to the University. You will need to organise OSHC through another provider yourself prior to arrival in Australia

Arranging Family OSHC

AusAID sponsored students are required to contribute 50% the cost of Family OSHC as your scholarship only includes the cost for single cover.

The points below outline the process for arranging Family OSHC for AusAID sponsored students.

• Email the UOW AusAID Officer and advise you wish to purchase Family OSHC
• The UOW AusAID  Officer will arrange an additional year on your current policy
• The UOW AusAID Officer will email you advising when to make payment direct to Student Central
• Visit Student Central (Building 17) and make payment
• You then need to email the UOW AusAID Officer, to advise that you have made the payment, and include the following details of your family members:
  • Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Passport Number
  • Relationship 
    (eg: Mr Jason Smith, DOB: 28/19/1975, Passport#10223, Husband)
• The UOW AusAID Officer will then create a letter outlining that you have purchased Family OSHC
• Within the next 2-3 weeks a new card with single cover will be sent to your address.
• After your family has arrived in Australia, you will need to visit AHM with your families passports and change the policy to Family OSHC

Renewing Family OSHC - for students already studying in Australia

AusAID sponsored students are required to contribute 50% the cost of Family OSHC as your scholarship only covers the cost for single cover.

The points below outline the process for renewing your OSHC.

• Email the UOW AusAID Officer and advise that you wish to renew your family OSHC
• The UOW AusAID Officer will arrange an additional year on your current policy
• The UOW AusAID Officer will email you when you need to make payment direct to Student Central
• Visit Student Central (Building 17) and make payment
• Within the next 2-3 weeks a new card with extended cover will be sent to your address.

AHM On Campus

An AHM representative is available on the main campus once a week during session.
