AusAID

Introductory Academic Program (IAP)

All commencing AusAID students are required to undertake a compulsory Introductory Academic Program (IAP), which is a six-week intensive program. The IAP program at the University of Wollongong consists of two main themes, orientation to the University of Wollongong and academic preparation.

At orientation you will receive important information covering issues such as Overseas Health Cover, Banking, Safety and Security, Wollongong’s transport system and other information that will help you settle in your stay in Australia and your studies here at the University of Wollongong.

The IAP aims to reinforce your academic study skills in writing, reading, note-taking, listening to lectures, seminar skills, effective presentation methods and information technology. This program is designed to prepare you for the return to studies in general (especially for those students who have spent the last few years in the work force) and for study in the Australian tertiary environment.
Please note that (as per the conditions of your scholarship) attendance at the Introductory Academic Program (IAP) is compulsory for all AusAID students. Students who fail to attend will be required to provide an explanation.
