IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR

INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARS PROGRAM

What is the International Undergraduate Scholars Program?

IUSP gives international exchange students an opportunity to participate in research, scholarly and creative projects in all disciplines.

$1500 is awarded to IUSP students to cover research expenses and compensate students for time spent working on their project.

The range of projects during any given year depends on availability of faculty mentors.

Participants will register for academic credit for their research projects (typically 3 credit hours), and their research credits will apply to fulfilling the full-time requirements for international students under U.S. visa regulations.

IUSP participants will present a poster of their research in the MSU Undergraduate Research Fair which takes place each spring.

Who is eligible?

    • Students applying to study abroad for one full academic year, two semesters, at Montana State University.

How do I apply?

Fill out the attached IUSP Application Form and submit it along with your MSU exchange student application to your program coordinator.

What happens next?

Your home university will select one applicant to be nominated for the program.

Montana State University will give final approval to be an MSU International Undergraduate and inform students prior to the start of their academic year.

Upon arrival IUSP participants will meet with the Director of the Undergraduate Scholars Program, Dr. Colin Shaw, and will be matched with a member of our research faculty based on academic background and research interests.

Stipends will be awarded in two $750 payments, one each semester.
