CHANGES TO BUS AND RAIL CONCESSIONS

Please be advised that the following changes have been made to concession card arrangements for all tertiary students. This information has been communicated by the NSW Ministry of Transport and is effective at the commencement of session 2007.

CHANGES TO CONCESSION ELIGIBILITY:
Full time domestic students - No change to concession eligibility (eligible for both rail and bus concession)

Part time domestic students - Not eligible for bus or rail concession (were previously eligible for bus only)

International students - Not eligible for bus or rail concession (were previously eligible for bus only)

Full time exchange students - No change to concession eligibility (eligible for both rail and bus concession)

Part time exchange students - No longer eligible for bus or rail concession (were previously eligible for bus only)

Study Abroad students - No longer eligible for bus or rail concession (were previously eligible for bus only)

International sponsored students - Only eligible if they can produce documentation that verifies they are on an approved Australian Government program.

Full Time Permanent Resident students - No change to concession eligibility (eligible for both rail and bus concession)

Part Time Permanent Resident students - Not eligible for bus or rail concession

New Zealand Citizens - Not eligible for bus or rail concession

In line with these changes, the BUS bitmap (ie. the image printed on the Student ID card) is no longer valid and has subsequently been removed from the Admissions system. As in the past, the gold rail stickers and bitmaps will cover both rail AND bus travel for eligible students.

Only those students who are entitled to bus AND rail travel will be issued with a rail bitmap or foil by Registered Issuers.

REPLACEMENT CARDS:

According to the Issuant’s Guidelines any student who has lost (misplaced/stolen) their Student Identification Card is now required to apply for a replacement concession sticker through the RailCorp Passes and Concessions Office. Students must first collect a replacement student ID card (at a cost of $10)and a verified Student Replacement Card Application form from Student Central. This form can then be posted or taken in person with the relevant application fee to the RailCorp Passes and Concessions Office. RURAL AND REGIONAL STUDENTS:

Students under the age of 30 and deemed to fall under Rural or Regional areas may be entitled to an Omnibus Fare Concessions. Students will need to collect a Ministry of Transport Form 320 (Omnibus Concession Fare Certificate) from Student Central which should then be taken to the local bus/ferry provider.

Students will need to provide evidence to the local bus/ferry provider that they are not receiving an income or remuneration, and the timetable of their contact hours at university.
