UPDATE: Trojan Computer Virus

An advisory was issued last week about a Trojan computer virus that has affected certain computers and memory-devices, such as memory sticks and digital cameras, on the University network.

A software update was received from our anti-virus vendor (McAfee) on Wednesday night which has proven to be effective in blocking the spread of the infection and is progressively cleaning equipment.

For memory-devices that have been infected, connecting them to a computer running Windows and the current anti-virus software will clean the offending Trojan virus from the device. Anti-virus software will warn you if your memory stick is infected.

The Student Central Computer Laboratories (Bld17, Lv.1) provide a Trojan virus clean-up service for the student community. Standard opening hours for the labs are 8AM to 11:45PM Monday to Friday and 10AM to 4:45PM on Saturday and Sunday.

If you have questions please contact your local IT-Support staff or Student Central Computer Laboratories (02 4221 4169).
