Contemporary Italian Cinema and Literature Seminars Spring 2007

These seminars aim to outline the development of Italian cinema from the end of the Second World War, provide in-depth insights into selected films and explore the interrelationships between contemporary Italian cinema, literature and society.
Films* and related novels: August 18th: "Il Gattopardo", directed by Luchino Visconti ("Il Gattopardo", by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa).
September 1st: "La vita è bella", directed by Roberto Benigni ("Se questo è un uomo", by Primo Levi).
September 15th: "Nuovo Cinema Paradiso", directed by Giuseppe Tornatore ("Bagheria", by Dacia Maraini).
September 29th: "Mediterraneo", directed by Gabriele Salvatores ("Ossi di seppia" - Mediterraneo - by Eugenio Montale).
October 13th: "Io non ho paura", directed by Gabriele Salvatores ("Io non ho paura", by Niccolò Ammaniti).
