Parking Guidance System

I hope you are finding the new digital signs around the ring-road useful in locating where parking is available or where it is not. Sorry it doesn’t provide any more of those much sought after spaces, but we believe it can reduce traffic congestion and wasted time and fuel by providing better information to you.

Testing of the system has been quite extensive, and we continue to fine tune it to avoid any operational problems. I hope you have not been inconvenienced during the testing period.

Some people have reported the signs not updating the moment a car enters the park, but this is as intended. Counts are collected centrally and display updates are performed across the campus only once each minute.

Where parking includes spaces for motor bikes, disabled and contractors bays, the counts can never be perfect of course. The system counts all vehicles and cannot differentiate between them, so the Main Car-Park (P2) will never be perfect in it’s current configuration, but we have tuned the system to do the best it can.

It is now fully operational. I hope that it will be of assistance to you.
