McKinnon Landscape Upgrade Stage 1 Works
Please be advised that following the completion of the exams, landscaping works are scheduled to commence on Monday 22 November 2010 to the area east of the McKinnon Building. The scope of works involves removing, regrading and replacing the existing paved courtyard and associated pathways along with a raised seating area west of the Administration Building overlooking the courtyard. Improved drainage, a new timber deck/stage, seating, BBQ and pushbike racks will be provided as part of the landscape upgrade. An environmental initiative will result in the installation of an underground rainwater harvesting tank (500,000 litres). The collected stormwater will be utilised to flush amenities in the McKinnon Building, provide water for landscaping and for topping up the McKinnon stream to the south, thereby reducing the dependence on town water. Pedestrian access through this area will be disrupted throughout the works programme which is due for completion in February 2011. Access to the Administration Building 36, from the west, will be closed during the works for safety reasons. Access and egress to the ground floor of the McKinnon Building will be maintained with temporary access routes signposted to direct patrons to the UniCentre food services. Access to the remainder of the McKinnon Building will not be interrupted. A site plan of the works is on view at Student Central.
