Caution Magpies swooping eastern entry
There have been recent reports of a magpie swooping near the Eastern entrance on the ring road in the vicinity of Kids Uni and building 39. For most of the year magpies are not aggressive, but for four to six weeks during nesting they will often defend their territory vigorously and will swoop on anyone who gets too near their nest. Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to avoid this area and take an alternative route. Motorists should also take extra care when driving in this area as cyclists and pedestrians may react erratically if they are being swooped.
Students should report incidents of magpie swooping on campus to UOW Security.
