This user manual will answer questions and solve any problems you may have with the ILIP program. To read a specific section, just click on the link below, or browse through the entire user manual.
The Online Tutorial
The ILIP online tutorial is designed to teach people who are not familiar with computers the skills to complete ILIP100. It is also useful to anyone doing the ILIP program as it gives details about the program. It explains how to use the ILIP program and what needs to be done to successfully complete ILIP.
Once you have successfully logged into the system and have reached the question page
then you will be able to access the online tutorials via the homepage.
Click on the Homepage link
on the left side frame and then go to the onlne tutorial via the horizontal menu. You should
read through the information displayed and attempt the activities. Once you have completed
the online tutorial you will have gained the skills needed to answer the questions and submit
your answers.

The ILIP Assignment
In the Login box enter your username. This is the username that your student e-mail account uses. In the password box, enter in the password you have chosen for your student e-mail account.
The password will come up as a set of stars (******) this is for security. Then you can either presst the enter key on the keyboard or click on the 'Login' button.
If you have incorrectly typed in your information on the Login screen, you will return to the same screen. You will notice a 'Wrong Username/Password, Please Try again' message above the username and password boxes. This could happen for a number of reasons. Try these steps when trying to log in.
- Check carefully you have typed in the correct username and password, making sure you use capital letter where necessary.
- Make sure the Caps Lock key is not on. You can tell this by hitting the Caps Lock key on the keyboard. If the light on the keyboard lights
up this means that it is on. Make sure the light is off.
- Make sure the Number Lock (Num Lock) is turned on. Hit the Num Lock key on your keyboard. The light on your keyboard should be lit up.
If you are still having difficulties logging into the system and have tried the above methods, then see IT Services at your campus.
If you have successfully logged into ILIP100, you will be taken to a 'Confirmation of Identity' page. This page will contain
your personal details, including name and student username. Please check that these details are correct before proceeding.
If these details are incorrect DO NOT hit the "Detail are OK, proceed" button. Close the browser window down, by clicking
on the X in the top right hand corner of the window. Then please contact IT Services at your campus.
If your details are correct, click on the, "Details OK, proceed" button.
You need to select the faculty that you are a part of. If you are enrolled in double degree then select the faculty that the majority of your study takes place in. To select your faculty, click on the drop down menu. This will display all the faculties at the university. From this menu select what faculty you are in. The faculty you have selected will appear in the box underneath the Faculty heading. Once you have selected the correct faculty then click on the "Submit faculty" button.
The Confirmation of Faculty page lets you confirm that you selected your correct faculty on the Selection of Faculty page.
It is important that you have selected your correct faculty as the questions you receive will be linked to the faculty you
have selected. Once you have checked that you have selected the correct faculty select the "Details OK, proceed" button.
If the incorrect faculty is displayed select the "Details Incorrect" button. You can then change the selected faculty by
going back to the Selection of Faculty page. Once you have selected the "Details OK, proceed" button then your questions
will be randomly generated, based on the faculty you have selected.
The core question page is made up of a randomly generated
set of questions based around information literacy. The questions
are made up of a combination of multiple choice, true or false,
short answer and drop down menu questions. If the questions
require you to refer to library information you can use the
links to the library home page in the frame on the left side
of the screen.
Once you have answered all the Core Information Literacy
questions then click on the "Faculty Questions"
button. This will take you to the Faculty specific question
page.
The faculty specific questions are randomly generated and focus on the faculty you are involved in. The questions will be multiple choice, true or false, short answer or drop down menu questions.
Once you have answered all the Faculty specific questions, then you submit your answers to be marked. You do this by clicking on the "Submit Answers" button.
To answer a multiple choice question click on the radio button (circle) next to the answer that you believe to be correct. Once it is selected the circle will be highlighted.
To answer a true or false question select the radio button (circle) corresponding to the correct answer.
A short answer question requires you to type in your answer into the text box. Click on the textbox (rectangle) and type in your answer.
To answer a drop down menu question click on the box and select the correct answer from the menu. The answer that you have selected will appear in the rectangle after you have clicked on it.
The ILIP system can save the answers that you have selected. If you have answered some of the questions and wish to exit the program then you can select the "Save Answers" button on the bottom of each of the question pages. This will save all your answers. Make sure you select the "Save Answers" button before you exit from the program otherwise your answers will not be saved. You can then log out of the program by selecting the "Logout" link on the left hand side frame.
When you log back in the answers that you had previously selected will be displayed. You can continue answering the questions and submitting your answers.
Once you have selected all the correct answers then click on the "Submit Answers" button at the bottom of the Faculty Specific question page. This will mark all the questions on that page. If there were any incorrect answers, then the question will be redisplayed with a red cross next to it. If a question was not answered then a blue question mark will appear next to the question. Correct answers will be indicated by a green tick next to the question. You can then answer the questions again and re-submit your answers.
Once you have submitted your answers and they are all correct, you will be taken to the ILIP Completion page. The completion page confirms that you have successfully completed the ILIP program. You can either print off the completion page or e-mail a completion receipt.
If you successfully complete the ILIP program and wish to go back to the completion page, you can. Log in again and you will be taken directly to the completion page.

Printing
If you wish to print off the set of randomly generated questions then you can. You need to click the right button on your mouse when your cursor is over the questions. Then just click "OK". This will print your questions.
To print the completion page you can do one of three things. You can click on the print button at the top of your browser window, or you can select the file menu, select print and ok. Lastly you can right click on the page and select print from the menu that pops up.

E-mail
From the completion page you can e-mail an ILIP completion receipt to a specified address. To send a receipt, click in the text box and type in the email address of the person you are sending the receipt to. Click on the "send" button. You can send another e-mail receipt to a different address if you wish.
If you successfully complete the ILIP program and later wish to send an e-mail receipt you can. Log back in to the assignment and you will be taken directly to the completion page where you will be able to send an e-mail receipt.
