Student Facilitators – Undergraduate Transition Program for New Students including UStart@UOW
Are you enthusiastic and committed to giving new students in your faculty the best chance for success?
Can you remember what it was like to start at university - what do you wish you had known back then?
Who Do We Want?
The Faculty of Science is introducing an Undergraduate Transition Program and is seeking a small number of enthusiastic student facilitators interested in developing and delivering the program.
We are seeking about 20 students to deliver the program.
A group of 6 students will receive training through the UStart@UOW program and develop a general program to be delivered to all students on Science Enrolment Day and a specialised program to be delivered to a small group of new undergraduate students who have been invited to attend UStart@UOW.
The remaining student facilitators will attend a training day and deliver the general program on Science Enrolment Day.
Group 1 - 6 UStart@UOW Facilitators
It is essential that facilitators be available for all days in the program.
| Friday 2 December 2011 | UStart@UOW Training Day - This training day is intended to assist students to enhance their skills in presentation, group management, planning and delivery. |
| Through January 2012 | Facilitators will meet as a group throughout January at times decided by the group |
| Tuesday 24 January 2012 | Trial Presentation Day - Facilitators will meet with facilitators from other Faculties to trial their presentation and receive feedback. |
| Monday 30 January 2012 | Training of Science Enrolment Day Transition Program Facilitators |
| Thursday 2 February 2012 | Science Enrolment Day Transition Program |
| Wednesday 8 February 2012 | From 12:30 pm - afternoon program for Science UStart@UOW students |
In recognition of their participation, UStart@UOW Facilitators will receive $600 (probably $400 plus a $200 shopping voucher) following the delivery of the program in February.
Group 2 - about 14 Science Enrolment Day Facilitators
Students need to be available for both the training day and Science Enrolment Day.
| Monday 30 January 2012 | Training of Science Enrolment Day Transition Program Facilitators |
| Thursday 2 February 2012 | Science Enrolment Day Program |
In recognition of their participation, Science Enrolment Day Facilitators will each receive $200.
