Academic Visit from Kasetsart University
On 22nd March 2006, Thai delegates from Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand leaded by Dr. Pinsuda Viravathana visited the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute (IPRI). The delegates work in diverse areas such as polymers, rubbers, textiles, catalysis, and colloids. The aim of the visit was to gain further knowledge about conducting polymers and their possible applications.
Institute Director, Professor Gordon Wallace, presented an overview of IPRI's operation to the students before they were taken on a tour of the research area. Institute researchers gave brief demonstrations of their fields of expertise including those involved in synthesis and characterisation of the electronic materials and also how these materials are used in the applications of sensors and actuators, bionics and wearable sensors.
The group has thanked the Institute for the opportunity to visit as this maybe the beginning of collaborations between the universities. One delegate was so impressed she expressed her desire to continue her PhD here at the UOW.
