Scholarships

CRC for Biomedical Imaging Development - PhD Scholarships (1-2)

Scholarship Description

In conjunction with the School of Chemistry, University of Wollongong, ANSTO Radiopharmaceutical Research Institute (RRI), and the CRC for Biomedical Imaging Development, 1-2 PhD scholarships are currently being offered for cutting-edge research in the area of radiopharmaceutical imaging. The RRI in collaboration with UOW are developing novel fluorinated radiopharmaceuticals for potential PET and SPECT imaging of specific cancer properties such as tumour growth, proliferation and metastasis. The project is aimed at the synthesis of new and improved glycosylated-F18 RGD cyclic peptide imaging agents with a high specificity for cancer, and will involve both their synthesis and analysis as potential cancer imaging agents. The scholarship holder will be primarily based at the University of Wollongong and become skilled in a diverse range of organic chemistry techniques, with access to a wide range of equipment both at UOW and ANSTO, including some of Australia’s premier mass spectrometry and imaging facilities. The CRC brings together a broad range of researchers at various institutes, universities and industry both here in Australia and overseas and offers the applicant an excellent opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills base. For those interested, please contact Dr Danielle Skropeta for information on individual projects. Please include in your application details of your previous research experience, research interests, CV (including transcript of academic record), and contact details of two academic referees.
