This project aims to examine ideas of home and the role of travel in establishing and maintaining the wellbeing of gay or queer males, living in and around Townsville.
This project is being carried out by Gordon Waitt ( University of Wollongong ) and Andrew Gorman-Murray ( Macquarie University ).
This project is part of a larger research study that aims to investigate the role of home in establishing and maintaining the wellbeing of individuals in the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (GLBTI) community.
One of the likely outcomes of the Home and Away project will be to gain insights into the everyday lives of sexual minorities. This important information will be communicated to relevant service providers to help lobby government to help improve the wellbeing of sexual minorities living in regional Australia
To gather experiences of gay/queer men for this project, Gordon will be visiting Townsville for two weeks from the 2 nd of May until the 16 th of May, 2005.
