Rivers, deserts and lakes provide a range of evidence for the response of the landscape to climatic and other environmental change. Of particular interest is the long term aridification of the continent, the history of the tropical monsoon and possible Aboriginal impacts.

The coastal and estuarine zone represents an important interface between terrestrial and marine environments and provides the opportunity to examine genetic linkages of environmental change between these settings.

We are examining coastal landscape changes over time, including in particular a comparison between sea-level change and the Last Interglacial record, extreme events and coastal hazards, including tsunami, and human impacts on the coastal zone.
