Environmental Chemistry

This area of research has seen the development and application of new techniques for assessment the quality of environmental systems and for determining the extent of human impacts on them. In addition, techniques for studying the transport and transformation of pollutants (Morrison et al, 1992) in the environment have been developed and this is an ongoing area of research. Work has been undertaken in soils/sediments (Gangaiya and Morrison, 1987; Morrison 1991), water and atmospheric (Mo et al, 1997) systems, and on the impacts of the presence of salt on the measurement technologies.
