Suggested Topics for Future Students

1. Integration of organic petrography and sedimentology of the Clyde Coal Measures to determine the tectonics influences on early Permian sedimentation. There is an interesting sequence with several thon coals seams and a thicker coal seam and this would be a great little study

2. Sedimentology of the Early Permian rocks (Shoalhaven Group equivalent) in the Lithgow-Ulan area. You would need access to a car to do this one.

3. Relationship between environments of deposition of coal seams (organic petrography) and the environments of deposition of the clastic sediments enclosing the coal seams. This would look at the coal seams on the coast and some petrography of seams further inland.

4. Organic petrography of the Green River Oil Shale (USA) deposit.

5. Coal-forming environments in Oil Shale sequences of Queensland Tertiary oil shale basins.
