Early Entry ProgramHSC Students - Reduce Stress!Don't wait for your HSC results!The Faculty of Science offers EARLY ENTRY to the following programs. Biological Sciences For further information on these degrees checkout the Course Handbook. For Early Entry to Physics please refer to the Faculty of Engineering Early Entry program. The Early Entry Program allows Year 12 students to apply for entry into our degrees based on your school record including trial HSC results and an interview. Students who have consistently performed well at school especially in Science and Mathematics are encouraged to apply for Early Entry. All students still need to apply for University entry through UAC (Universities Admission Centre). Successful Early Entry applicants will receive either a guaranteed place or a place that is conditional upon the results of their final exams. The UOW degree must be your highest eligible UAC preference for your Early Entry offer to be activated. If you are not eligible for an Early Entry offer you may still gain a place in the Main Round UAC offers. Criteria for Bachelor of Science applicants › At least 75% in a minimum of two of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Earth & Environmental Science, Geography, or Physics › Applicants with 75% in only one of the above science subjects will be considered if they are performing particularly strongly in that subject › At least 75% in Mathematics, or studying Mathematics Ext 1 or Ext 2. General Mathematics will not normally be considered suitable for Early Entry. Criteria for Medical Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Marine Science, Medicinal Chemistry and Nanotechnology specialist degree applicants › At least 80% in two Science subjects that are considered relevant to the particular specialisation › At least 75% in Mathematics, or studying Mathematics Ext 1 or Ext 2. General Mathematics will not normally be considered suitable for Early Entry. For Early Entry into all degrees offered by the Faculty of Science students can register online from 1 July to 18 September. Students will then be requested to send: - a certified copy of their Trial HSC results, including marks and class rankings, and - a certified copy of their Year 10 School Certificate, to:
Students whose results meet the required criteria will be invited to attend an interview between 28 September and 2 October 2009.
