Soft Materials GroupThe Soft Materials Group (SMG) conducts research into advanced materials for bio- and nano-technology applications and is located in newly refurbished laboratory space in building 41A on the University of Wollongong's main campus. The SMG has links with two Research Strengths located on the Innovation Campus: the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials Science. SMG research is focused on hydrogels, carbon nanotube membranes and printing technologies. Our Hydrogel work was featured on ABC TV's the New Inventors during 2009, which you see by clicking here. This short video gives a very brief overview of the how, what and why. The SMG is taking a leadership role in working with nano-particulate materials such as carbon nanotubes and has recently adopted a nano-particulate management (NPM) strategy. Last year, the SMG was awarded the University of Wollongong Workplace Health and Safety Award for Best Team Contribution to improving Health and Safety. International workshop on rheological and mechanical properties of hydrogelsThis workshop was held on 28th July 2011 and was a great success. Dr Ross Clark (CP Kelco, USA) has kindly made his lecture on rheology available. Download Ross Clark's Lecture on rheology
