| 7th | Pam Morgan’s last day at work as the Faculty Purchasing Officer. A farewell lunch was attended by a multitude of Science Faculty members, other university staff and some company representatives. Pam has contributed greatly to the Faculty and developed many strong and lasting friendships over a period of 17 years. |

| Welcome Alberto Javier Granero-Rodriguez. Alberto is from Talavera de la Reina in Spain. He has an Industrial Chemistry Engineering degree from Escuela Universitaria Politecnica (Vallodolid, Spain) and a M.Chem Chemistry degree (first class) from University of Hull in the United Kingdom. He was awarded an IPRI scholarship. At UOW he will be working under the supervision of Gordon Wallace and Marc in het Panhuis on nanobionic materials | |
| Welcome Kathy Jacobs. Kathy has just started working as an administrative assistant three days a week with the Johnson and Johnson Research Laboratory (Steve Pyne and Alison Ung). Kathy previously worked for nineteen years with Australian Steel Mill Services at Port Kembla. | |

| Congratulations Michael Thomas and Aravind Ramachandran who both won prizes for their presentations at the Australian and New Zealand Society for Mass Spectrometry Conference in Christchurch (NZ). Michael won second prize for his oral presentation while Aravind won first prize for his poster. | |
