Course Entry Requirements

HSC students must achieve the University Admission Index (UAI) determined for the course. The UAI is reviewed each year and there are first year intake quotas for the degree. In addition the following prerequisites are required:

Science/Mathematics *
At least 4 units of HSC Science; or
4 units of Mathematics; or
4 units of Science and Mathematics

Notes
(1) 2 unit General Science, 2 unit Mathematics in Society, 2 units Maths in Practice or 2 unit Science for Life do not satisfy the Science/ Mathematics prerequisite.

(2) Geography can be counted as a Science unit.
* This prerequisite does not apply to students with a University Admission Index above 85.00.

Those who do not qualify for direct admission to the B. Biotech may gain admission via the BSc program subject to satisfactory performance in both first and second year and approval by the course coordinator.

Preparation for a Science Degree

Strongly recommended:
HSC chemistry
At least 2U Mathematics (or Advanced Mathematics), and if possible
Either Physics, Biology, Geography or Geology
