Bert Roberts and Allan Chivas (SEES); 5-year ARC Discovery grant to examine human prehistory of the Arabian peninsula and India - including an ARC Professorial Fellowship for Bert.

Chris Gibson (SEES); 5-year ARC Linkage project (through UTS) for a project mapping cultural assets for planning in regional Australia.

Jun Chen and Andrew Minett (IPRI); 3-year ARC Discovery grant to develop 3D carbon architectures for fuel cells

Gordon Wallace, David Officer, Simon Moulton et al. (IPRI); 4-year ARC Discovery grant to develop nanostructured polythiophenes for bionics.

Nick Dixon, Jenny Beck et al. (CHEM); 5-year ARC Discovery grant for work on the bacterial replisome - including an Australian Professorial Fellowship for Nick.

Nick Dixon (CHEM); ARC APA-I for a PhD on molecular genetics and protein chemistry.

Nick Dixon et al. (CHEM); NHMRC project grant for developing multiplexed, ultrasensitive diagnostics.

Jenny Beck, Nick Dixon (CHEM); ARC Linkage International for a collaboration with Prof Carol Robinson (Cambridge).

Dave Griffith (CHEM); 3-year ARC Discovery grant to develop new approaches to atmospheric measurements and modelling.

Steve Pyne and Alison Ung (CHEM); 3-year ARC Discovery grant for large-scale production of stemona alkaloids.

Tony Hulbert and Bill Buttemer (BIOL); 3-year ARC Discovery grant to examine the role of membrane lipids in lifespan.

Andrew Aquilina (BIOL); NHMRC project grant to work with Prof Robinson (Cambridge) on small heat shock proteins in age-related diseases.

Mats Olsson (BIOL); 3-year ARC Discovery grant to look at the effects of heritability of reactive oxygen species levels and their effects on life history.

Mats Olssen (BIOL); ARC Linkage International Fellowship for work on mate choice in the endangered Goulds Petrel, with Terry O'Dwyer (PhD graduate of UOW).

Mark Wilson and Justin Yerbury (BIOL); ARC Linkage International Fellowship for Justin to collaborate with Prof Dobson in Cambridge on the role of blood proteins in disease.

LIEF grants

Mats Olsson (BIOL); ARC LIEF through the Uni of Sydney for a Video Analysis Facility for Animal Behaviour.

Jenny Beck and a cast of many from Chemistry and Biology; ARC LIEF for 'new generation' mass specs - $520,000.

Allan Chivas and a cast of many others from SEES; ARC LIEF for a stable isotope mass spec - $250,000.

Gordon Wallace and a big team from IPRI and Engineering for a fancy Scanning Electron Microscope - $600,000, and (through Monash) for a Organic Solar Cell Fabrication Facility.

 

Chris Fergusson (SEES) for his contribution to a very big LIEF grant through ANU ($1.2 million per year for 5 years) for the Ocean Drilling Program.
