About the Author
Vincent J. Cincotta was born in Fairview, New Jersey in 1934 and completed his undergraduate studies at Fordham University, his Master's Degree at Columbia University and his Doctorate at Middlebury's Graduate Language Schools (Italian and Spanish).
In 1977 Cincotta was appointed the foundation lecturer in Italian Studies at the University of Wollongong and for 18 years was the Course Director for both Italian and Spanish. He has published in both Italian and Spanish language and literature and has a special interest in theatre, hence his work on the relationship between literature and libretto and in Spanish Zarzuela.
Cincotta retired from teaching at the end of 1994, after 35 years in academia. In 1995, he was made a Fellow of the University of Wollongong and a Cavaliere dell'Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana. In 2003 the King of Spain bestowed upon him the Cruz de Oficial de la Orden de Isabel la Católica. Cincotta and his wife continue to live in Wollongong, their adopted home.
