Applications for the second round of ARC Centres of Excellence for funding commencing in 2005 have closed.
The Centres of Excellence application rounds are not held annually. Consistent with the funding rules for the 2003 cohort of Centres of Excellence and Centres, these Centres of Excellence and Centres will be given the opportunity to be considered for an extension of funding through to the end of 2010. The decision regarding extension will be made by the ARC on the basis of a rigorous review of each centre which will be conducted during the second half of 2006.
The ARC is strongly committed to the Centres of Excellence scheme as an ongoing feature of its investment. However, in light of the proposed comprehensive review program which is foreshadowed to lead to extension of funding for a number of Centres of Excellence or Centres, the ARC is not planning on conducting another full selection round under the scheme in the near future.
