How do I apply for an extension of my scholarship?
APA and UPA scholarships are granted for 3 years with a 6 month extension permitted if further time, beyond the 3 years, is required for study/research related reasons. The 6 month extension will be automatic for all Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) and University Postgraduate Awards (UPA), unless the supervisor advises RSC that the students progress is unsatisfactory or the reason for the extension is not study related.
Students on other types of scholarships should check their Conditions of Award or contact RSC to discuss eligibility.
How do I apply for a suspension of my scholarship?
All requests for scholarship suspension must be made in writing to the Director in the Research Student Centre. All requests must be approved by the student’s supervisor.
Requests for suspension take approximately 10 working days to process.
When you wish to recommence your studies and reactive your stipend payments, you must advise the Research Student Centre again in writing with your supervisor's approval.
All students should check their Conditions of Award for eligibility.
How do I apply for Sick/Recreation leave?
All requests for leave must be made in writing to the Director, Research Student Centre. All requests must be approved by the student’s supervisor.
Requests for sick leave must be accompanied by a Doctor's certificate.
Requests for leave take approximately 10 working days to process.
All students should check their Conditions of Award for eligibility.
How do I claim Thesis/Relocation Expenses?
All requests for thesis/relocation expenses must be made in writing to the Director, Research Student Centre and must be accompanied by the relevant receipts.
Requests for Expense payments take approximately 10 working days to process.
All payments are made by cheque to your home address.
All students should check their Conditions of Award for eligibility.
How do I change my bank account/address details?
You can change your bank account details via the Web Kiosk, at the following address:

When will I receive my Annual Stipend Increase?
For APA/UPA and APAI Scholarship holders, the annual stipend increment is payable from 1 January each year. Annual increments will not be processed if you have not submitted your Annual Progress Report.
Matching scholarship holders will receive their annual stipend increase on the anniversary of the start date of the scholarship.
Higher Degree Research Award stipends are not generally incremented. Supplementary scholarship holders should refer to their Supervisor for enquiries regarding stipend increases.
