PhD Scholarship in Membrane Filtration Technology
Australian Postgraduate Award Industry (APAI)
The School of Civil Mining and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wollongong is offering a scholarship for a postgraduate student at the PhD level. Stipend: $26,140 p.a. tax-free plus $6,000 top-up for outstanding candidate.
Project title: Assessment and optimisation of N-nitrosamine rejection by reverse osmosis for planned potable water recycling applications
Project summary: This research aims to enhance the capabilities of advanced water treatment plant designers and operators to control the disinfection by product N-nitrosamines by optimised reverse osmosis treatment. Factors influencing the removal of N-nitrosamines by reverse osmosis membranes will be systematically elucidated. The outcomes of the research will allow for enhanced process efficiency, particularly with respect to N-nitrosamine removal.
The project will be carried out in collaboration with Veolia Water and Water Secure, and the scholar will have opportunities to work for periods with the Western Corridor Water Recycling Scheme in Queensland.
Requirements for the applicants: The applicant must hold an Honours I or Honours II, Division 1 or equivalent degree, and must be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia or New Zealand. Overseas candidate may also be considered. Applicants are preferred to have a background in membrane filtration technology or water quality and treatment.
