University Postgraduate Award (UPA)

UPAs are tenable only at the University of Wollongong. They are available to graduates of Australian and overseas universities.

Eligibility Criteria: Bachelors degree with First Class Honours or equivalent results.

Stipend for 2011: $22,860* non-taxable

Other Benefits: Thesis allowance

Eligible Programs: PhD, Professional Doctorate and Masters by Research degree.**

Duration of Award: Three (3) years full-time for Doctoral candidates and two (2) years for Masters by Research. Doctoral candidates may apply for a 6 month extension for research related reasons.

Closing Date for Applications: 12th March & 17th October

* Stipends are indexed annually

**Students enrolled in the 4 year PhD (Integrated) may not apply for a UPA Scholarship until enrolled in their last session of course work. If they are awarded a scholarship but they do not successfully complete the course work, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn.
