Higher Degree Research Student Conferenceindex | program | abstract requirements | poster requirements | key dates online registration | key note speaker | Oral Presentation list | Poster list Cutting edge research by higher degree students at the University of Wollongong was showcased at the HDR Student Conference (Wednesday 26 September 2007) with the students’ industry partners and the community in general invited to join other members of the University to see the results of the students’ research efforts. About 200 people were in attendance at the Higher Degree Research Student Conference which featured research in the following themes:
- Good health
- New Methods and Materials
- Our Social Fabric
- Reflections on Society
The Keynote Speaker at the conference was Associate Professor Marie Ranson from the School of Biological Sciences who recently won the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Research Supervision. Professor Ranson has been awarded a three-year Fellowship by the Cancer Institute of NSW. An important application of her research is the development of a rational biological basis for the development of targeted anti-cancer drugs. One of Professor Ranson’s recently completed PhD students, David Croucher, won the Premier’s Award for Cancer Institute NSW Outstanding Research Scholar for 2006.
