Statisticians: What are they up to?

Research David SteelThe statistical approach to design and analysis has almost unlimited scope for application. There is also a need for development of new statistical method as larger and more complex data becomes available and the requirement for evidence-based decisions increases. Many people have limited experience of what statistician can do. 

This presentation will show the range of issues that the researchers in the Centre for Statistical and Survey Methodology are tackling. Examples include determining trends in unemployment, analysing multiple characteristics of cells and assessing the effectiveness of rain making devices.
