Established in late 2009, the Institute for Innovation in Business and Social Research (IIBSoR) is one of the newest amongst the University of Wollongong’s Research Strengths. In a relatively short time the IIBSoR team has contributed to UOW being the only university in Australia to receive the highest possible ERA rating of “well above world standard” in Tourism Research by working closely with researchers from several other disciplines; secured substantial funding for a range of new projects; and teamed up with many businesses and organisations including DHL, Tourism NSW and CareSouth.
In this talk, Directors Prof Sara Dolnicar and Prof Tim Coltman (pictured above) will present the work IIBSoR does to develop and critically assess measures and methods used in social and business research in order to increase the validity of results. Business and social research is only useful to organisations and policy makers when the results are valid, which can only be ensured when rigorous measures and methods are used.
We will showcase a selection of our areas of strengths and research projects, including:
• a new measurement method; the C-OAR-SE approach,
• experimental methods in business research,
• social media and tourism research,
• and marketing methods for identifying and recruiting successful foster parents
