University Research Committee (URC)The University Research Committee (URC) is the central body for research management at the University. It has the responsibility of developing policies and procedures regarding research and overseeing their implementation. The URC budget consists of the Institutional Grant Scheme (IGS) available to the university for that year. The URC is also responsible for all systemic issues relating to research training, including liaison with Faculties and research units in the implementation of the University's research training management plan, which encompasses all aspects of a research student's career at the University. The URC oversees a number of operational committees that deal with the implementation of research policies and procedures, including:
MembershipThe URC has the following Membership:
- The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) in the Chair
- The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) as Deputy Chair
- The Deputy Chair of the URSC
- The Chair of Senate
- The Chairs of each Faculty Research Committee
- The Dean of each Faculty
- Directors of URC Research Strengths
- The University Librarian or nominee
- Two nominees of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International)/University Internationalisation Committee
- Two higher degree research students, nominated by WUPA
- Chair of the Thesis Committee
- Chair of the Ethics Policy Committee
- Up to six additional members nominated by the DVC (R)
Executive Secretary, Director, Research Services Office Minutes Secretary, Office Assistant, Research Services Office The URC meets at least 4 times per year.
