Council for Australian-Arab Relations (CAAR) Annual Scholars from Arab League Countries
CAAR was established by the Australian Government in January 2003 to strengthen ties between Australia and Arab countries. The Council’s role is to promote greater understanding and acceptance of Australian and Arab cultures, values, beliefs and diversity. CAAR Scholarships are offered to citizens of the Arab League countries who wish to undertake postgraduate study in Australia. The Arab League countries are: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, the Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
CAAR Scholarship Program
The scholarship program will facilitate Masters or PhD students to undertake postgraduate coursework programs of up to 12 months, Postgraduate Masters courses or Professional Development courses at Australian universities during 2008-2009. The scholarship program will meet the costs of university course fees, travel, establishment in Australia, and living expenses for students up to a limit of $AUD 70,000 per scholarship. The first round of the scholarships will commence in July 2008.
